This session will provide special education teachers with updated guidance on the development of the Transition Individualized Education Program (IEP) in Virginia. Participants will review recent updates to Virginia transition requirements, gain a clearer understanding of transition assessments, and learn practical strategies for developing meaningful and compliant transition plans within the IEP. The session will highlight how assessment data can be used to inform postsecondary goals, transition services, and annual goals that support student success beyond high school. As the Transition Coordinator, I will also review compliance expectations for transition components of the IEP and share important mandates and updates for the upcoming school year. Teachers will leave with a stronger understanding of required transition elements, available assessment tools, and step-by-step guidance to support effective transition planning for students with disabilities.
Note: Teachers will need laptops and Va IEP login information.
