This professional development session is designed to support school counselors in developing high-quality Section 504 Plans and accurately completing triennial eligibility documentation. Participants will review the legal foundations of Section 504, including eligibility criteria, required components of a compliant plan, and the counselor’s role in the evaluation and review process.
The session will provide step-by-step guidance on how to write clear, specific, and actionable accommodations that directly align with a student’s identified needs. Counselors will also learn how to analyze multiple sources of data—such as academic performance, behavior, medical information, and teacher input—to make informed eligibility decisions during initial and triennial reviews.
By the end of the session, counselors will be equipped with tools, templates, and strategies to ensure their 504 documentation is both compliant and meaningful in supporting student access to instruction.
